Into the mist

today was one of those days where when you wake up and look out the window, you turn back over and pull the blankets up higher and fall back asleep thinking about hot chocolate and a good book. Low clouds and a misty drizzle turn everything grey, damp, and cold. but today, when i woke up, twas not a day to be wasted by literature and warm sugary beverages.

I like riding in the rain. there is very much a certain energy that comes from it. not the same as the energy on a blue sky day topping out on the caribou flats. That energy is bright and crisp. This is a softer vibe that comes from the quiet and the cool clean air and the pinpricks of rain. it forces me deeper into the shrouded trees and farther through the tall grass, bent over with the weight of fresh dew.

Riding in the rain makes things better i think. Wetter, yes indeed, but also better. as omv put it today, its like night riding. he's right. its nice to have the world reduced to a couple square meters as you climb into the fog. Only worrying about the how wet the roots are and how peanutbutteresque the mud is. not the 400 pages of summer fucking homework left.

on a completely reversed note. the new ergon grips are sick. as is the new patagucci shell. the only problem there was that I was already soaked to the bone when I put it on. Kept excess water out though.
